Buying a new lacrosse helmet

Buying a lacrosse helmet is one of the biggest purchases you’ll make as a lacrosse player. Not only because of the cost, but because of the importance of cranium safety. I don’t know about you, but I like having my head working and attached to my shoulders!

You’d think with the importance of a helmet playing lacrosse, there’d be a plethora of options available. Not true. The last time I checked, there are more varieties of rid pads than helmets. As a side note, what are rib pads for anyway?

I digress, I’m sorry. Back to the helmets. Yes, the options are limited but this is a good thing. For something this important, you’d only want the best. I doubt these days whether anybody would go for the old style leather helmets. Not that you can buy them anymore. But the point I’m trying to make is that you’re not going to consider anything made of a lesser quality material when safety is paramount. It’s like purchasing a car seat for your child. You’ll pay top dollar for the best. You want that extra half-a-per cent protection.

I used lacrossegearreview.com to find my lacrosse helmet. I was interested in cascade helmets as they’re the best. Most of the NLL teams use them, so it’s a bit of a no brainer. Those guys smash into each other like freight trains. Lacrossegearreview.com listed all the stores that sold my helmet and all I had to do was pick the store with the lowest price. Can it get any easier than that?
